A high-touch, real-world alternative to residential treatment that brings structure, support, and accountability into daily life.

Sustaining recovery and emotional well-being in everyday life often requires more than outpatient care alone. For individuals seeking to avoid a return to residential treatment, or hoping to bypass it altogether, Wllow’s companions offer a practical, high-touch alternative. These companions provide discreet, intensive, and highly personalized support during high-risk transitions or periods of instability.

Whether assisting a student reintegrating into campus life, a professional maintaining sobriety while traveling, or anyone in need of consistent structure and accountability, our trained and certified companions embed directly into the client’s daily environment. They offer more than supervision; they foster continuity, autonomy, and lasting progress by turning the challenges of real life into opportunities for growth.

What Our Companions Actually Do

Our companions are trained to provide comprehensive, hands-on support across all aspects of daily life. Here's what a typical day might include:

Recovery Accountability & Safety

  • Conduct scheduled and random drug/alcohol testing to maintain transparency with families and treatment teams

  • Accompany clients to 12-step meetings, helping them find sponsors and build authentic connections within the recovery community

  • Provide immediate intervention during moments of crisis or intense cravings, using evidence-based techniques to work through triggers

  • Monitor medication compliance and coordinate with prescribing physicians to ensure proper dosing and timing

Life Skills & Organization

  • Help establish and maintain daily routines that support recovery—from morning meditation practices to evening reflection

  • Assist with practical life management: organizing schedules, managing finances, completing important paperwork

  • Support job search activities including resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace re-entry strategies

  • Coordinate academic responsibilities—attending classes, meeting with professors, organizing study schedules, and managing accommodations

Complex Life Challenges

  • Work through difficult family dynamics, helping clients communicate boundaries and navigate conflicts with loved ones

  • Process trauma responses and emotional triggers as they arise in real-time, providing grounding techniques and emotional regulation support

  • Help clients rebuild relationships damaged by addiction or mental health struggles, facilitating difficult conversations when appropriate

  • Support major life decisions and transitions—whether that's choosing a career path, ending unhealthy relationships, or moving to a new environment

Community Building & Social Support

  • Facilitate introductions to sober peers and recovery-focused social activities

  • Attend social events with clients to provide support in potentially triggering environments

  • Help clients develop healthy hobbies and interests that support their recovery journey

  • Connect clients with community resources like volunteer opportunities, recreational activities, or support groups

Coordination with Treatment Teams

  • Communicate regularly with therapists, psychiatrists, and other healthcare providers about client progress and challenges

  • Attend treatment related appointments when helpful, serving as an advocate and additional observer

  • Document behavioral patterns and insights that may not emerge in clinical settings, sharing these observations with the broader care team

The companion's role is dynamic and responsive—shifting from practical support during stable periods to intensive crisis intervention when needed. Our companions understand that recovery happens in the small, everyday moments, and they're trained to recognize and respond to both subtle changes and obvious red flags. Most importantly, they approach this work not as distant professionals, but as people who have walked similar paths and can offer both expertise and genuine understanding.
